Leisure Lullabies

--

How I sat down,
Gulped down coffee,
And silenced the cacophony in my mind —
Staring at the hands clasped together and minds oblivious of all —
As if death is the only devil that devours their intimacy.

How I embarked on to produce and collect wealth,
Strived and starved through the courses of life,
And thought we become full with the riches —
Attempting to be happy at once and for all—
As if someone will sell happiness for our money.

How I emptied the cup,
Engaged my sesnes,
And contemplated the flux between existence and extinction —
Greeting the procession of life with a stupefied smile—
As if a smile is how the mind pays a heart its debt.
